Tell us which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and what the document was (a scan, an export, a form). You do not need to send us the file — please don't, if it has anything sensitive in it.

Common questions

Is the text really gone?

Yes. HyperRedact does not place a black shape over your text. It renders the page, paints out the areas you marked, and rebuilds the document from those images, so the finished page contains no text objects at all. After writing the file, the app re-opens it and searches it for every term you removed; if anything can still be read back, it tells you rather than staying quiet.

It missed something

The automatic scan finds text that the PDF stores as text, in the shapes it expects. Two things defeat it: a document where the words are part of a picture rather than text, and a term broken across two lines. For both, press and hold on the page, drag across what you want gone, and add it by hand. Everything you add by hand is removed exactly like a detected term.

Does my document get uploaded?

No. There is no server to upload it to. Everything happens on your iPhone. See the privacy policy.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, so they are managed on your device: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops the next renewal and keeps your access until the end of the period you have paid for. We cannot cancel or refund a subscription on your behalf — refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restoring a purchase on a new phone

Open the app, go to About → Subscriptions and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with.

Reporting a security problem

If you find a way to recover text from a file HyperRedact produced, we want to hear about it before anyone else does. Write to support@hyperredact.com with “security” in the subject and we will reply.
